PHILOSOPHY

We strongly believe in building a solid base of mechanics and fundamentals so that each student-athlete can improve on their abilities in the game of softball. With these skills the student-athlete can build their self-confidence and self-esteem. Our goals are to teach skills in a fun and positive environment.

PCC Player of the Week

March 1, 2010 Kelsey McGowan, freshman outfielder and catcher from Point Loma High Schoolreceived Pacific Coast Conference Player of the Week. Kelsey went 9 for 12, 2 Homeruns, 8 runs scored, 9 RBI's and a walk, in all conference games. Kelsey has the second highest batting average out of the whole conference and is leading the Olympians in batting average .467, 28 hits, 24 runs, 7 doubles, 3 triples, 4 homeruns and 23 RBI's. McGowan received the 2010 Best Offensive Player of the Year for the Olympians.

March 8, 2010 Natalie Smith, freshman pitcher from Helix Charter High School received Pacific Coast Conference Player of the Week. Natalie gave up only 2 earned runs in 2 conference games as Mesa tallied back-to-back wins over San Diego City College 7-1 and perennial conference champion Palomar 7-4. In 14 innings, Smith struck out 9, has a ERA 1.39 and has 53 strikeouts in 60 1/3 innings. Smith received the 2010 Most Valuable Player of the Year for the Olympians.

March 29, 2010 Kelsey Alvarez, frehsman DP from Grossmont High School received Honorable Mention Pacific Coast Conference. Kelsey hit a 2 run Homerun in the bottom of the ninth to go into extra innings. Alvarez received the 2010 Most Improved Player of the Year for the Olympians.

April 5, 2010 Zarah Montes, freshman center fielder from Crescenta Valley High School received Honorable Mention Pacific Coast Conference. Zarah went 3 for 4 with 2 runs, 2 singles, 1 inside the park Homerun, 1 stolen base, 1 sac bunt, and RBI. Montes recieved the 2010 Golden Glove Award for the Year for the Olympians.

April 19, 2010 Leslie Kuhen, freshman third baseman from El Capitan High School received Honorable Mention Pacific Coast Conference. Leslie went 2 for 4 and scored a run in Mesa's 8-5 win over El Camino and was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI's in the Olympians 5-0 victory over San Diego City College. Kuhen received the 2010 Best Defensive Player of the Year for the Olympians.
