The National Parks: Our American Landscape a Photographic Journey
Thursday, December 3, 2009 from 4:00-5:00 pm Room G-101
Award-winning photographer, Ian Shive will hold a discussion to explore the challenges of finding new ways to capture the classic and iconic American National Parks. Further, his recent work (and continued work) documents the border fence going up between US and Mexico and its affects on the wildlife, environment and people. He was one of only 2 photographers who went to Washington D.C. and met with and lobbied members of the House and Senate to enact new legislation and halt construction of the fence until the laws that were all waived were recognized. They were successful as of October 9th in getting Congress to halt construction.
