The cat’s out of the bag! San Diego Mesa College’s Veterinary Technology program is
accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). When you graduate
from the program, you are eligible to take the Veterinary Technician National Exam
                        (VTNE).

The Veterinary Technology program offers a course of study that goes far beyond the
traditional classroom setting to prepare you for your career as a veterinary technician.
Learning how to care for animals and support those who love them, you will partake
in clinically-based work experience courses (upon a successful background check) and
gain first-hand experience modeling standards of safety and ethics while operating
medical technology, handling animals, and performing services from venipuncture to
surgical preparation. You will learn how to maintain clinic and owner records to ensure
smooth office visits and encourage efficient communication between owners and medical
providers. Guided by knowledgeable Veterinary Technology faculty, you will work with
real animal patients and obtain the foundation in veterinary care that you need to
advocate for animals’ health throughout your veterinary medicine career.
