Environmental Sustainability Committee

Purpose #

The purpose of the Environmental Sustainability Committee (ESC) is to provide a forum for campus-wide efforts to improve environmental sustainability, and to develop and coordinate the implementation of Mesa’s Climate Action Plan. The committee will collaborate with relevant governance groups and provide recommendations to the President’s Cabinet.

Goals #

1. Identify, develop, and implement initiatives that improve sustainability on campus, including Mesa’s Climate Action Plan.
2. Raise awareness of environmental racism, of the equity implications of climate change, and of other environmental issues on campus and in the community.
3. Sponsor campus events and activities that support sustainability.
4. Promote interdisciplinary cooperation and inclusion of sustainability topics into the curriculum.
5. Help students identify "Green" career paths.
