Tierra Tours - 3/2/2018
WILD WILLOW FARM
"Wild Willow Farm & Education Center is a six-acre working farm located in the southwest corner of the United States, less than three miles from the Pacific Ocean and two-thirds mile north of the Mexican Border. The farm is nestled along the banks of the scenic Tijuana River, and borders the river's stunningly beautiful estuary nature preserve. "
TIJUANA RIVER ESTUARY
"The Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve preserves, protects, and manages the natural and cultural resources of the Tijuana River Estuary by focusing on research and education with compatible recreation and resource use. The Reserve encompasses beach, dune, mudflat, salt marsh, riparian, coastal sage scrub, and upland habitats surrounded by the growing cities of Tijuana, Imperial Beach, and San Diego"
Cleveland National Forest - 4/6/2018
Mount Laguna tour
"The Cleveland National Forest is the southern-most National Forest in California. Consisting of 460,000 acres, the forest offers a wide variety of terrains and recreational opportunities.
Until the arrival in San Diego of Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, the lands now within the Cleveland National Forest were known only to the desert and coastal Indian tribes who used them. The Kumeyaay, Luiseños, Cahuilla and Cupeño found a good living on the abundant acorns and game. Many of our trails today follow those routes first used by these early dwellers."
Cleanup Volunteer Project
"After touring Laguna Mountain with the help of USDA-Forest Services workers and Cleveland National Forest Rangers from the Descanso District, the STEM scholars participated in a cleanup volunteer project. They split up for a trail and canyon cleanup. "

"Padre Dam provides water, wastewater, recycled water and recreation services to 100,000 residents in the San Diego suburbs of Santee, El Cajon, Lakeside, Flinn Springs, Harbison Canyon, Blossom Valley, Alpine, Dehesa and Crest. They are a public agency with policies and procedures directed by an elected five-member Board of Directors.
Their mission is to provide quality water, recycled water, park and recreational facilities and wastewater management services for their customers. "
