Applying for Graduation

  • Apply for graduation though your MySDCCD portal. Under "My Academics" -> "Apply for Graduation" 
  • Please note that if you do not see your degree and/or certificate displayed, please meet with a counselor.
  • View your graduation status under "My Academics" -> "View Graduation Status".
  • 2022-2023 Deadlines to Apply for Graduation:
    • July 31, 2023 is the deadlint to apply for graduation and be a Summer 2023 graduate. 
    • Note: Students may apply for graduation 1 to 2 semesters in advance as long as they will complete requirements by the end of the semester.

Registering for the 2024 Commencement Ceremony (TBA)

Students who have applied for graduation through Mesa College will receive an email with the link to register for commencement in March 2024.

An email is sent every Monday to new grads. If you have not received the email, please contact Mesa Evaluations at [email protected] with your name and student User ID number.

Attending 2024 Grad Fest (TBA)

2024 Grad Fest & Ticket Distribution is TBA

Graduates must register for commencement by the 2024 deadline to be eligible for guest tickets. (Deadline TBA)

Guest tickets are free and graduates are required to pick up their tickets at Grad Fest. 

Photo ID required to pick up guest tickets. 

Commencement Regalia (cap and gown) is required to participate in commencement. Graduates will be able to purchase their regalia at the Mesa College Bookstore. Note: graduates who purchase during Grad Fest will receive a discount

For your family and that can’t attend, Mesa’s 2023 Commencement Ceremony will be streamed live at: www.youtube.com/sdmesacollege

A professional photographer will take pictures of every graduate as degrees are conferred. Information about ordering photographs will be given to each graduate during check-in/ rehearsal.

General pictures will be posted to our Facebook page www.facebook.com/SanDiegoMesaCollege and the Mesa College Flickr album.


FAQs

What is the difference between graduation and commencement? Graduation is the process of obtaining your degree/certificate and completing requirements, while Commencement is the ceremony where we celebrate students graduating within the academic year. More information here.

Where can I find updated information on the commencement ceremony? Graduates are encouraged to check their email and visit the Commencement website regularly for updates.

Where can I buy my commencement cap, gown, and tassel? Commencement regalia including caps, gowns. tassels, and cords are available for purchase through the Campus Bookstore

Where will I receive my diploma? Diplomas will not be distributed at commencement. Diplomas will be mailed to the address on file in the mySDCCD portal under "My Personal Information".

When will I receive my diploma? Diplomas are mailed 6-8 weeks after the semester, only after all requirements are complete and all financial holds are cleared. 

How can I verify honors 3.5+ GPA? Graduates can check their degree applicable GPA via there education plan in the portal under "My Academics" -> "My Education Plan" or they can check their cumulative GPA on their unofficial transcript to guesstimate their degree GPA. 

Do I have to submit my transcripts? To obtain a degree through SDCCD all transcripts must be on file and evaluated. To obtain a certificate of achievement, only applicable transcripts must be on file and evaluated.

Note: Participating in commencement does not guarantee your application for graduation will be approved. Please connect with Counseling to verify graduation requirements.
